What happens during Pregnancy?

First Trimester.   Your Pregnancy starts with the first day of your last normal menstruation cycle (remember this date, because you will be asked this a thousand and one times throughout the Pregnancy), and conception takes place a week later.  You may not look pregnant during your first trimester, however, you may feel really pregnant as your body is going through so many changes as it accommodates your growing baby. Your risk of miscarriage during the first trimester is significant.  Avoid harmful substances and make necessary dietary changes.  This will help decrease your chances of miscarriage.

Second Trimester.  Weeks 13-27.  Most of the early pregnancy symptoms will disappear in this trimester.  You will likely feel a surge of energy during the daytime and rest more at night.  Your uterus is rapidly growing and your abdomen will start to look pregnant.  Your appetite increases and so does your weight gain.  You are likely to feel your baby move by week 20.  You will find out the Sex of your baby during the second trimester.

Third Trimester.  You will start to see your healthcare provider more frequently until the birth of your baby.  The doctor will determine the position of your baby and check your cervix regularly.  Travel restrictions take effect during the third trimester.
